COMPASS Assessment

The COMPASS is a web-based computer software package developed by ACT. The assessment is used to accurately place students into appropriate Math, Reading, and English courses.

Incoming freshman who have not taken the ACT or SAT, and transfer students who did not take English or math at their previous institutions are eligible to take the COMPASS.

The assessment is not timed. Average assessment time is 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

The assessment is not pass/fail. However, it will impact how much time you spend in school. It is important that you study and do well on the assessment. There is a calculator on the computer that you will be able to use during the math portion of the assessment.

DACC Testing Services also proctors exams for students from other schools; fees included.

COMPASS testing is also available at each of DACC's satellite campuses by appointment.
