COMPUTER LAB ROOM 107 
Policies and Procedures 
 
Doņa Ana Branch Community College (DABCC) provides its students with state of the art equipment and Software. Priority is given to currently enrolled DABCC students. We reserve the right to ask any NON DABCC students to release their computers to DABCC students needing them for class assignments. To provide a considerate learning environment, we ask that you observe the following policies and procedures:

Policies

  • You must be enrolled at DABCC, ABE, NMSU or through the DABCC Community Education Program in order to use the equipment in Lab 107.
  • Chatting is allowed if no students are waiting to use a computer.
  • Food and Drinks are NOT ALLOWED in the computer lab. This includes empty bags and/or food containers of any kind placed on computer tables. 
  • Never save, delete, or modify files on the computers' hard drives. Installing software to computers is PROHIBITED.
  • Games are allowed for INSTRUCTIONAL USE ONLY. (Only games included with the computer lab's windows software packages are allowed.)
  • Students are not allowed to fix, change, install, move or reconfigure any equipment. This includes adding paper to printers. If you need any assistance with the equipment, please ask a lab assistant for help.
  • Be considerate of others. Keep noise and distractions to a minimum. Children under 18 are not permitted in the computer lab.
  • DO NOT copy software from DABCC computers to your diskettes. This is against the law and violators will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
  • Abusive language and behavior will not be tolerated. 
  • Viewing obscene and explicit material is prohibited and is inappropriate in this educational environment. Disciplinary sanctions will be followed if such material is accessed in the computer lab. 
(Disciplinary sanctions will be followed in accordance with the NMSU/DABCC code of conduct, for any infringements of these policies.) 

Procedures

  • Several computers are attached to special equipment or software that cannot be connected to all machines. We may ask you to release them to students needing to use them. Please check all signs.
  • ID's (or other property) are required to check out any references materials, diskettes, mouse pads or other equipment.
  • For the students protection and the lab equipment, all diskettes will be automatically scanned on each computer. However, at the students request, we will scan any disks they have at the front desk.
  • The lab phone is for business use only. We do allow you to make emergency calls . Do to the number of students using the lab, personal calls will be limited to a maximum of 3 minutes or less.
  • Any special requests need the approval of the computer lab coordinator. Lab assistants do not have the authority to grant any special requests without the lab coordinator's approval.
  • We ask that you print only one final copy of your document(s). If you need more than one final copy, please use a copy machine.
  • The lab assistants are available to help troubleshoot equipment or software. They can help only at their level of expertise. Your instructor can provide you with any definite answers to questions you may have about your homework.
  • Volunteers may be helping at the front desk. They do not necessarily have the expertise of any of the software or equipment available in the lab.
  • A Lost & Found is provided as a courtesy. The computer lab is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any personal items lost or left in the lab.
  • A suggestion box is available for your comments and suggestions.
