Dr. Vincent Tinto to headline DACC’s Community College Roundup event
Las Cruces, NM – Doña Ana Community College will host the annual Community College Roundup event on Friday, October 5, 2012, and Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the DACC East Mesa Campus, 2800 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. The 2012 theme is “Student Success: The Time is Now” and keynote speaker Dr. Vincent Tinto, nationally recognized authority in the areas of learning assessment and college completion, will headline the event, which will also feature Las Crucen Denise Chávez, a novelist, playwright, teacher and performance writer.
Dr. John Walker, DACC associate vice president for academic affairs and event organizer said this two-day event is an opportunity for professional development and networking among educators across the four community colleges within the New Mexico State University System. “Attendees will enjoy stimulating lectures and exciting break-out sessions to include discussions of best practices in education,” he said.
Tinto’s keynote address is free to the public and is scheduled for 1 p.m., Fri., Oct. 5, 2012, in the auditorium of the DACC’s East Mesa campus. Registration for the two-day professional development event is $65 and available to all educators and individuals interested in higher education.
