Welcome!
To Our Future Graduates:
On behalf of the General Studies Division, I want to welcome you to our community of lifelong learners! I congratulate you on choosing DABCC to provide you with the highest quality of instruction and hands-on experiences which will give you the skills necessary to become successful in your career!
DABCC fosters an environment that values and recognizes each individual for his or her unique differences and similarities and is proud to attract and retain students of diverse cultural, ethnic and racial backgrounds. Mutual respect for one another in and outside the classroom is essential in valuing our diversity.
Our faculty genuinely cares for our students and will work with you in achieving your goals. Having personally observed the excellent teaching and learning going on in the classrooms, I can, without a doubt, state that we have some of the best instructors in Las Cruces! They are experts in their fields who look forward to relaying that knowledge to you. They can be firm, but nurturing; fun, but businesslike; structured, but flexible at a moment's notice. They will come prepared each day and will expect you to do the same, ready to absorb their knowledge. They will challenge you to think critically, encourage you to ask questions, and allow you the freedom to express your opinions. They will listen to your concerns, work with you to address them, and help get you through any challenges that may come up.
Our faculty set high expectations for you in the classroom and will help you do your part in achieving them. We encourage you to use the tutoring services available at the Student Success Center. Your challenge is to demonstrate that you have the desire, the "ganas", the focus, and the persistence to work hard to accomplish your goals! Be ready to call on you support systems to help you out, as you embark on preparing for your career and achieving your dream.
We will help you take one step at a time and before you know it, you will be walking across that stage on graduation night! Together, we can make it happen! Best wishes to you and your family. I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
Sincerely,
Carment Aguilera-Goerner
