Dr. Huerta wanted to remind everyone that if anyone is approached about a story or looking for information on DACC, they need to go through DACC’s President’s Office.  Dr. Huerta will then determine if she or someone else should handle.  This included requests from the media to come onto campus.  We need to make sure we are not giving the media just a slice of information or inappropriate information.  Also, please make sure Mr. Paulman is notified of any need for articles, print/camera, etc.  Dr. Huerta noted that in the past we have had situations where people gave newspapers slanted information.  Make sure you call our office and/or Mr. Paulman for DACC’s marketing including media, articles, newspapers, magazines, and commercials.  Dr. Huerta would like to avoid doing damage control.  The college has a good standing in the community and Dr. Huerta would like to keep it that way.  Let’s do things properly.  Mr. Ledesma noted there are a lot of requests from the FBI and the Border Patrol for background check on students.  Please refer these requests to Mr. Ledesma.  Requests for faculty and staff should be referred to Ms. Gleason.  Ms. Gleason noted we need to be consistent in our answers.  A small discussion followed.

Dr. Huerta noted the college received a letter from HLC that noted DACC is fully accredited.  We will need to approve additional locations and there may be a possibility of additional visits.  DACC has a campus where it offers 50% or more to complete a certificate or degree.  They may visit that campus as well.  This includes East Mesa, Gadsden and Sunland Park.  She notified the division deans this morning.  Dr. Lillibridge is the contact/lead person and will have training on October 8.  Dr. Huerta noted if you start hearing things, there is nothing wrong.  We wanted to let you know.

Informational Item
