| 1 - Approval of August 5, 2005 minutes (pending) - Dr. Huerta | Dr. Huerta noted Irene had been involved in a minor car accident and the
minutes for August 5 will be forthcoming. Ms. Donna Alden volunteered
to take notes for Irene. Dr. Huerta thanked Ms. Morris for helping to secure staples for Katrina disaster victims. Ms. Stacy Cotton is also helping to support victims. Dr. Huerta noted Mr. Brian Koller, BOT faculty member, as well as students have been deployed to Gulf of Mexico via National Guard. Dr. Montoya will send out an e-mail to faculty regarding policies for students deployed. |

| 7 - Public Schools - Dr. Huerta | Dr. Huerta discussed with Mr. Louis Martinez, Superintendent of Las Cruces
Public Schools, the opportunities to increase dual credit courses, especially in
the technical area. Mr. Burke noted he felt Mr. Martinez is interested in an
integrated college program - not as a separate track. Mr. Welch noted Dean Castillo, Dean of the NMSU College of Engineering, will offer some pre-engineering courses with labs through the high schools. The labs are worth about $50,000 in equipment. We could possibly have the labs offered at out own centers instead. This is only the beginning of the discussion since the principals were not at the meeting. Ms. Jennifer Amis, Director of Career & Technical Education for Las Cruces Public Schools, is the contact for information regarding this initiative. Ms. Nickerson noted the Gadsden School District is wanting to charge DABCC rent/custodial fees for classroom use for ABE and Headstart. The Division Deans meet with Gadsden at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Huerta met with Mike Gaume, principal at Hatch High Schools. Mr. Gaume is committed to dual credit programs. We are offering GED as well as other courses there. They also want an integrated academic program - not a separate track. |

| 8 - Susan Hatfield Visit - Dr. Chieffo | Dr. Chieffo noted there are 150 seats for the Susan Hatfield visit on Wednesday, September 28. We will divy up seats to include full and part time faculty, students, staff, and NMSU staff. Ms. Alden is the planning committee liaison working with Dr. Chieffo regarding attendees. Ms. Morris asked about structure of PIF part of meeting. That is yet to be worked out. | Informational Item |
| 9 - Development Office Update - Ms. Portillo | Ms. Portillo noted $2,500 was made from the golf tournament. There were
22 teams this year. Caps and promos were given to players. Twenty-eight
community businesses donated items. Wal-Mart donated a $500 gift
certificate. It was given to a women who got a hole-in-one. Ms. Portillo will seek sponsors for the Amado Peña fund raising dinner on October 25. The tickets for the dinner are $60. The funds raised will be used for scholarships. We have ordered 500 posters. Mr. Peña will meet with students on October 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The will be a Construction Alliance fund raising dinner on October 20 at the Fulton Center. The Donor Appreciation Dinner will be scheduled in December. |

| 10 - Announcements | Dr. Montoya would like a clean registration by census date. On Tuesday,
December 6, 6:00 p.m., Corbett Center, we will be having the Student Awards
Ceremony. Ms. Nickerson noted ABE will be having their evaluation and site visit by the State Department in October. Ms. Sletten noted her division recognized Constitution Day. The advisor interviews for her division are upcoming. They are working on background checks for their students. Ms. Morris noted they are working on a new literacy magazine. The library will be hosting the annual Border Library Conference in September. Ms. Morris is also working on creating a Library Advisory Council. Ms. Portillo reminded the group the Distinguished Alunmi nominations forms are due September 16. Mr. Walker noted they were in the process of ACSB accreditation. Ms. Wood noted Faculty Council was working on the by-laws. Mr. Burke noted they were completing the search for Larry Cammack's position. The new room capacity list will be sent out. There were 116 sections canceled this fall. Mr. Welch noted the Construction Program was almost finished with certification. He also noted the Creative Media Technology program was a two-plus-two program with NMSU. |
