MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

      A minimum of a Master’s Degree in an academic field/discipline directly related to programs offered within the Legal Studies, Library Science, Business Office Technology, and Health Information Technology Department.  Degree must be in hand by hire date.

      Two years (60 credit hours) of post secondary full-time teaching required or equivalent.

      Two years previous leadership, administrative, managerial, or department chair/head experience.

      Business/industry experience in a field related to Legal Studies, Library Science, Business Office Technology, or Health Information Technology.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and lead a collaborative team.

      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with faculty, students, staff, supervisors, and community.

      Experience with Distance Education technologies.

      Computer literate and ability to use appropriate technology.

      Knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies for post-secondary students including developing curriculum, measuring outcomes, evaluating course efficacy, and assessing program and student learning.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as the academic leader of the LLBH Department.  Teaches 15 credits annually. Prepares an Annual Faculty Performance Report for each full-time department faculty.  Supervises and evaluates all full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and support staff within the department.  Fosters and promotes teaching excellence through an effective evaluation process, including but not limited to full and part-time faculty classroom observations.  Addresses routine departmental matters in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.  Addresses department/program full and part-time faculty, staff and student concerns and issues.  Administers daily operations of the department and ensures that policies and procedures are followed. Conducts, coordinates and attends meetings with program advisory committees and/or external community groups, and department/program faculty.  Collaborates with department faculty to revise and update curriculum to stay current within the discipline and workplace trends.  Fosters transfer and articulation agreements/activities with K-16 educational institutions.  Ensures that programs within the department comply with accreditation standards and certification requirements.  Participates in the screening, interviewing, orientation, and mentoring of department faculty.  Encourages and recommends faculty and staff participation in professional development activities.  Assists Division Dean in preparation and oversight of budgets within the department.  Develops class schedules and recommends faculty assignments.  Monitors and tracks student enrollment.  Participates in department/program student recruitment and advisement. Oversees and is responsible for inventory of equipment and supplies, catalog changes, textbook requisitions, and master syllabi.  Communicates regularly with satellite directors, department faculty/staff, regarding class schedules, curriculum, program, department, and college matters.  Communicates program and department status and needs to Division Dean through regular meetings.  Prepares individual and departmental reports as required such as, but not limited to, program review and assessment of student learning.  Oversees department/program assessment of student learning. Participates in professional development activities at the local, state, and national level.  Other duties as assigned.
