The DACC Adult Education Division college transition program is designed to assist Adult Basic Education (ABE) students interested in a college or university education prepare for a successful experience.  The program is available at each DACC ABE Learning Center at no cost to the student and provides the following:

Professional Guidance: a college transition advisor to guide you in making the changeover from ABE to college and assisting you through your first year in college.

Student Support Resources:  Admissions, Placement Testing, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Academic Advising, Tutoring, Counseling, Career Exploration, Placement & Cooperative Education, Services for Students with Disabilities, Student Activities & Organizations, Library, Computer Lab, Bookstore

College Preparation Courses and Transition Workshops: topics include college success skills, college readiness assessments, study skills, learning styles, organizational skills, time management, identifying barriers and developing strategies to overcome them, confidence for success, career training options, and much more.

ABE Transition Program is for students who plan to attend Doña Ana Community College, New Mexico State University, or other training programs. This program is beneficial for students at various academic levels including:

  • GED® recipients
  • ESL students
  • High school graduates who have been out of school for a number of years and want to develop academic skills before entering college

HOW do I participate?

  1. Telephone Call
    Contact the College Transition Advisor for an individual appointment or a group advising session at (575) 528-7038 or call the nearest DACC Adult Basic Education Learning Center listed herein.
  2. Personal Contact from the College Transition Advisor
    The College Transition Advisor will contact all advanced level GED® and ESL learners for advising appointments and will visit all advanced classes to keep you informed about the program.
