About Us

In 1984, Literacy Volunteers of Doña Ana County (LV-DAC) was founded as a community response to local needs. Our non-profit organization utilizes trained volunteers to provide FREE one-to-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their basic reading, writing, or English language skills.

We give preference to the least educated. Instruction is individualized and based on the real-life needs of learners. LV-DAC has tutoring sites throughout Doña Ana County, and our services are FREE to both the learners and the volunteers. LV-DAC works closely with local, state, and national adult education partners.

We are a component of the Adult Education Division of Doña Ana Community College. LV-DAC is accredited by ProLiteracy, the national literacy accrediting organization. LV-DAC is funded in part by grants from Adult Basic Education of DACC, foundations, and local businesses. The rest of our funding comes from community donors like you.
